Cancellations & Rescheduling

If you must cancel or reschedule your appointment, we kindly askat least 5-days, or 120-hours notice for a deposit refund.

Cancellations or rescheduled appointments within 5-days, or 120-hours of your scheduled appointment will result in a forfeit of your deposit.

Cancellations or “no-shows” within 24-hours of your scheduled appointment will result in a charge of 50% of the service amount.

Cancellations can be made by EMAIL ONLY to studio@curtisandcort.com to avoid the 50% service charge. If you do not receive an appointment cancellation confirmation email back from us, your appointment has not been canceled and you will be subject to the “no-show” fee of 50% of the service amount.

How do I book a headshot session with you?

Click "Book" in our menu at the top of the screen and once you've decided on a package, click "Book a Session." This will take you to our booking calendar where you can select your session-type, as well as makeup add-on. Please note: We open our calendar 8-12 weeks in advance.

We require a $150 deposit to secure your appointment time, payable through our Square online system.
Your remaining balance is due at the shoot. Cash or Check preferred and we also accept Venmo, Zelle, or Credit/Debit Card.

Should I do the Makeup Add-On?

We offer Makeup Application & Touch-ups for all ages. Our products are all camera-friendly and our style is very natural, with the intent to support and and emphasize your features, without letting makeup become of the focus of your shot.

And yes- kids can benefit from makeup, too! For our younger clients, we focus on under-eye circles, skin-smoothing, moisturizing lips and keeping everything in place.

Please note: We ask clients to arrive with hair styled and will work with you on placement throughout your shoot.

What are your Covid-19 Protocols?

Curtis & Cort Photography is committed to following the NYC Phase 4 Reopening guidelines set forth by the New York State Department of Health, including but not limited to wearing face coverings, social distancing when possible, and regular cleaning and disinfection in the studio for high risk areas used by many individuals and for frequently touched surfaces. We will have extra face coverings for clients if needed, which we will have you remove once we start shooting. We recommend a face-covering without a metal nosepiece or tight elastic, as to ensure it doesn’t leave a crease on your face before the session. We also asks all any additional guests to please sign our Visitor Log when entering the studio.

Do you offer any discounts?

COLLEGE STUDENTS:
We offer a College Student Package, discounted at 20% off our regular package rates. It is exclusively for clients currently pursuing a degree in a 2-year or 4-year college or conservatory program. It does not apply to a "gap year" or to high school students. You must be able to provide proof of your college enrollment by uploading a copy of your Student ID.

RETURNING CLIENT DISCOUNT:
We offer Returning Clients a $50 Discount off their total. Coupon Code: RETURNING

SIBLING DISCOUNT:
We offer a Sibling Discount of $100 off the total to families who would like to book The Mini or The Standard session for two siblings back-to-back. (Email us directly to book: studio@curtisandcort.com)

We are located in Long Island City, Queens- about a 10-minute subway ride from Times Square and easily accessible via Taxi/Uber/Lyft.

We are 4-Minute Walk from Court Square via the E, M, 7, & G Trains

We are 7-Minute Walk from Queensboro Plaza via the N, W, & 7 Trains

STREET PARKING:

If you plan to drive, we suggest arriving early. Street-parking may be available and is typically free- just make sure to check the street signs.

What kinds of clothing should I bring?

Clothes you feel GREAT in. Clothes you LOVE. Gone are the days of "headshot attire rules." When in doubt, BRING IT and we'll create different looks, together. Even if it's something you think may not "work", bring it! We learn a lot about your individual style based on that suitcase. Don't be be shy.

A Note About GLASSES: You’re welcome to bring glasses to wear in your shoot, but please make sure they have an anti-glare coating and do not contain transition lenses. If you aren’t sure, we suggest buying a fake pair and popping out the lenses. If the lenses don’t have an anti-glare coating, we can’t shoot them!

What should I do leading up to my shoot?

Number One: Don't Stress

Number Two: Get Sleep and Drink Water

Number Three: Don't get a brand new hair cut, get brand new lash extensions, get a brand new eyebrow wax, try a brand new lip-stain, the night before your shoot. If you're planning to make a big change, we love it! But give it time to settle and make sure YOU love it. We like to keep our retouching natural and representative of the YOU that's going to walk through the audition doors. So make sure you like the new 'do, lashes, eyebrows before we shoot 'em!

What happens at a shoot?

You arrive, have a seat, and we chat. We want to know who you are as an actor and as a human. What are your career goals? What are your headshot goals? We'll go through your suitcase and explore looks together. We hang and steam your clothes, have coffee, tea, (wine?), and get to work.

Before we start shooting, you'll have a mini "headshot lesson" with Curtis- just a few tips and tricks get you started that will help along the way. Then we'll cycle through your looks in several different setups: both studio and natural light (weather-permitting.)

It's stress free, low pressure, easy and always fun.

Will you direct me in front of the camera?

YES. Definitely. I will never, ever leave you hanging. There's nothing worse than the sound of CLICK, CLICK, CLICK...SILENCE. We'll keep you engaged, interacting, and connecting. Hailing from a dance background, I direct first from the physical. Then based on composition, lighting, background, clothing, vibe, etc.- I'll get super specific about how that shot wants to feel in expression.

Can we shoot full-body?

If you need a full-body image we have the capability to shoot it in-studio and are happy to do so as one of your "looks". Just make sure to select the package that best fits your needs on our booking page.

-CAN YOU (C&C) JUST PICK ONE AND SEND IT TOMORROW?: Yes, we will pick an image we love from your gallery, retouch it and send next-day. Please note- this will count as one of the retouched images from your package and will be subject to the $25 Retouched Image Rush Fee.

How do I pay my balance?

We accept Cash, Check, Venmo, Quickpay, and Debit/Credit Card. Final balance is due at the shoot.

How do I pick my Retouched Images?

Our Gallery delivery system allows you to create multiple "Favorites" folders to share with friends, family, agents, managers, etc. Once you've chosen your Retouched Images, email us the file numbers. Once they're finished, you'll receive an email notification that they've been added to your Gallery within 5-Business-Days of making your final selections.

Can I order more Retouched Images?

Yes! They're $50 per additional image.

Do you print my final headshots for me? What about a border and my name?

We do not offer printing services, and HIGHLY recommend you print your images at an accredited Headshot printing company like Quick Color Custom Photo Lab. They also offer standard "headshot formatting", i.e. they'll add a border and your name for you. Click the button below to get your headshots printed.
